“Guard You Home” won international awards in the 2021 Guangzhou (International) City Image Competition (广州(国际)城市影像大赛) and Guangzhou Youth Art Video Creation Competition (广州青年艺术影像创作大赛) in 2021.
The awards that won by "Guard You Home"
According to the 2021 Guangzhou (International) City Image Competition, there are a total of 632 works had been received worldwide, and “Guard You Home” receives the first runner-up that stood out from the 139 works in the same category which is “best short film”.
After that, “Guard You Home” receives the second first runner-up in Guangzhou Youth Art Video Creation for the best drama short film.

“Guard You Home” is a Chinese New Year Short Film produced by 10 students and one of the lecture advisors from Han Chiang University College, Penang.
Tarren Tan, the director, and the director of photography (DOP) of “Guard You Home” said that this is the most memorable moment in his journey of broadcasting that they won the awards internationally.

Tarren, 24, is currently working as a freelance photographer and cinematography who had joined this broadcasting field in 2016.
“Thanks to all the production crews, actors, and lecture advisors because without them, we couldn’t make it”
“The short film is planned around one week for the pre-production and two to four days for shooting that is kind of rush,” said Tarren.
Tarren added that the advice from the lecture advisor, Mr. Lee Keat Wei guided the production crew to go further and ensure the blind spot for spicing up the story to make the story more engaging, fun, and entertaining to watch.

“Newcomers or wannabe in the broadcasting field should spend more time investing the technique and content rather than buying those fancy equipment and gears which not necessary using while just started in this field,” said Tarren.
“Most of the time we forget to spend more time to think that what we shall we create the content itself is actually the most expensive and important in this field, I think is better to invest in technique rather than equipment,” said Tarren.
“Guard You Home” is about a story within the guard’s family, especially his son unable to a reunion with his family due to the pandemic, and an Indian security guard who worked in Han Chiang University College helped the colleagues to ease the relationship with his son.
